SEARCHING FOR A ONE
KIND EXHIBIT - DYNASEARCH FINDS EXHIBIT RESOURCES MIDWEST
Specializing in the recruitment of claims professionals, Jeff
Garrison of DynaSearch understands the value of working with an
expert and sought out Exhibit Resources Midwest to meet his display
needs.
DynaSearch was "launched" at the 2000 Annual Claims Exposition
and with the 1-year Anniversary fast approaching they wanted to
exhibit and make an impact at the 2001 expo. The company had already
placed a unique ad featuring water and fish with the theme being
"let us catch the right fish for you", in the trade publication
that would come out prior to and during the show. After an initial
meeting, a plan to visually connect the ad to the display was
developed. Having never exhibited before, Jeff wanted design and
pricing options. ERM's graphic designer, Matt Scott, applied the
graphic to four 10' displays with a price tag of $5,800 - $10,000.
On the low end was the traditional Featherlite Formula 10' pop
up arc display with a two-panel photomural and detachable graphics.
A double Case to Counter Conversion in matching Imperial Blue
Front-Runner fabric completed the look - a great option at a great
price. It features quick set up, tear down and is lightweight.
Knowing DynaSearch wanted something unique; the next step up incorporated
a custom backlit double-bubble panel from Pictura, utilizing a
Featherlite Formula Flat frame and a convex 2-panel graphic that
comes out into the booth. The graphic is backlit with multiple
fluorescent fixtures; halogen lights placed across the top allow
the entire display to radiate a glow. The pop up flat frame is
also speedy to set up, while still minimizing costs.
Still the message of "something different" played over in the
heads of the design team members. The new Featherlite Power Panel
display made the cut. Power Panel's sleek, fine furniture appearance
allows for a custom look at portable display prices. The display
can be expanded and reconfigures with ease and without the use
of bulky or expensive tools. The ability to change the graphics
easily was also a plus. Adding just slightly more time and cost,
the Power Panel display definitely created a sophisticated look
at an affordable price.
While working with the graphic the focus kept coming back to the
elusive yellow fish. It was already eye catching but could it
be enhanced? A dynamic new process introduced by Optima Graphics
of Fenton, Missouri was the key.
Theoretically, the Selectalite graphic involves an inkjet image
and one translucent vinyl color. Any portion of the digital may
be designated as backlit. However, for DynaSearch, Optima evolved
the process one more step. By printing the entire job on the clear
inkjet Selectalite material and putting an opaque backer on the
graphic (masking the fish), created the background foundation.
The fish only was then printed on the clear Selectalite material
and placed back into the graphic. This allowed the fish to be
four colors rather than one translucent vinyl color.
"When we work on a project, everyone becomes involved. Our select
vendors, like Optima Graphics and Pictura, are what set us apart
in the industry." Says Robert Ensley, President and founder of
ERM.
Matt Scott, ERM Senior Designer, then further enhanced this high
tech ocean look with custom Octanorm framework.
The frame is a serpentine shape, which reflects the wave motion
pattern. The overstated "S" pattern creates the footprint simplistically
with 94" tall - 5" diameter posts on each end and radius curves
dividing and connecting the shape.
(2) 45" x 46" fish graphics are set into top curve of the "S"
at a 30 degree radius and (2) 45" x 74" graphics at a 46 degree
radius. The versatility of the Octanorm frame allows for quick
and easy changes on the graphics, which can create a new look,
message or theme in minutes. The graphics are mounted on clear
1/8" clear acrylic giving the images depth, for that under water
- oceanic feel. The graphics achieve their curve when inserted
into the groove in the Octanorm frame, so when not in use the
graphics are stored and shipped flat.
The header frame is mounted on extensions that protrude from the
backwall. The graphic is a rollable Lambda attached with Velcro.
Crackle glass, a textured Plexiglas from American Plastics out
of Omaha, NE, was inserted in small sections as the divider between
the convex and concave graphics. This center divider was also
the structural cornerstone of the display - made up of (2) 45
degree angles and (1) 90 degree angle the stability of the display
is achieved here. Blue theatrical gels were added to the fluorescent
fixtures behind the crackle glass, giving the entire display a
sea blue glow. Another added advantage of the Octanorm frame is
that the structural integrity allows for the suspension of AV
Equipment. The addition of a secondary structural support and
special bracket allowed for the suspension of the monitor seen
here.
All the Octanorm pieces are labeled and standardized with no one
piece longer than 4'. The display can easily be adapted to a new
configuration or expanded to a 20' booth. The display comes complete
with a simple to follow set up instruction booklet and takes 2
people just over an hour to set up with just 1 tool.
ERM created a web page tab and password for DynaSearch to log
on and access their set up instructions should they need to, allowing
for 24/7 availability.
The matching cylinder table utilizing 4 sections of 1/16" matte
aluminum with a backer, provides storage for product literature
and promotional items, as well as maintains the continuity of
the booth image. The aluminum sheets ship flat.
All the options were presented and Jeff Garrison of DynaSearch
admits it was tough to make a choice. "All the displays were
unique and had advantages. But when it came right down to it my
eye kept going back to the Octanorm Unit".
Eye catching and unique, the custom Octanorm Display sold itself.
"There are often hidden values and expenses in displays." Says
Jennifer Zaruba, Project Manager for ERM. "Even though we realized
the Octanorm booth was a little more than Jeff wanted to spend,
we felt it was the look he was after and should be presented.
The results spoke for themselves."
The display of choice debuted at the 2001 Annual Claims Exposition
in Tampa, Florida, October 8-10th. Response was overwhelming.
DynaSearch generated leads that should allow them to "pay for
the booth and the show".
"Our primary objective was to project a very professional image.
Despite the fact that we had no "give away" items or gimmicks
of any other sort, people were so attracted to our booth that
they could not help engaging in conversation about our company,"
said Jeff Garrison, President of DynaSearch.
Mission accomplished!
